2009: Recap / 2010: Now Booking!

Wow. What a year. While it was filled with more-than-the-usual personally challenging events, creatively it was the best. year. ever! What great therapy it was to be around doting, in-a-fog, so-in-love parents and their sweet little newborns. Thank you to my many friends and family who helped be a part of lolo design studio's inaugural year! I loved clicking the year away & getting to spend more time with each of you. It was such a gratifying experience, which I hope to continue and expand in 2010! Better get started on that... : )

So, with that said, I am going to open my "book" & start scheduling photography sessions from March to (early) November. However, Maternity & Newborn sessions will be available year-round. Alphabetography photos/frames are also available year-round.

I hope each of you has a safe & Happy New Year - thanks again for being great. And, lastly, what's a post without a picture?

Straight No Chaser

If you haven't already heard this men's a capella group, who originated at IUB in 1996, then click here for a little listening enjoyment. Or, even better - support their talent & buy an album for yourself or as a gift. They're great entertainers, so check them out on YouTube, too.

Hope your Holidays aren't too crazy & stressful. If they are, puh-lease sit down, have some hot cocoa in your favorite mug & think how blessed you are to {have a warm home, have loved ones around you, have a job, etc...}...Merry Christmas!

Christmas Mini Session - R Family

These are my darling neighbors...I've been able to photograph them not once, not twice, but 3x this year - how fun! Here are some images from our Christmas session last weekend...These kids just have the best smiles & biggest blue eyes. Miss K was smiling from start to finish, which made my job really easy...and, hopefully less stressful for Mom! Although, she is a very laid-back person to begin with, so I'll just stick with the "it made my job really easy" theory.

Maybe this weekend I'll work on taking my own family's Christmas card pictures?

Sisterly Love

I hope you enjoy these pictures - I do! This family is near & dear to our hearts, as we go waaay back...Their mom & I as far back as kindergarten! Not too many friends can say their relationship is still going strong since kindergarten... Miss A & Miss O are just too cute & it's fun to see how they all (our's & their's) interact. Maybe one day they can say they've been friends since birth?

We took these pictures at West Baden Resort in French Lick, IN. It's a pretty remarkable place & has undergone extensive renovations/expansion in the past 10-15 years. With a casino, winery & indoor waterpark within a couple miles of each other, it's definitely worth a weekend stay for the whole family.

Thanks for letting me grab these moments in time for you, Rasche family!

Mr. N

I have been busy taking pictures of some beautiful families, which has been great. However, I REALLY love newborns & was thrilled to get to photograph this little man. He was so content and just slept through the whole session - it was a dream to work with him (and his mom!). Here are a few to take a look at...

St. James Court Session

Sunday night, we had our family pictures taken by Todd Nichols at the Historic Farmington Home. What a gorgeous old plantation right in Louisville! I'm anxiously awaiting to see how they turned out...So, while we were the "photograph-ees" on Sunday, on Monday, I became the photograph-er for my friends, the Hartz's. Such a sweet family, that we have grown to know and love in the past couple of years. Here are a few sneak peeks from their session at the equally gorgeous St. James Court in Old Louisville. Thanks again for letting me spend time with your beautiful family!

Couldn't Resist!

After completing all of the editing these past 2 weeks, I just had to post a few more from my family portrait sessions...maybe I should've titled this post, "Blue Eyes." Have a great weekend!

Family Portrait Session #2

Not only did I have the opportunity to photograph 1 good-looking family last weekend, I got to do 2! Mom/Dad/Grandma/Grandpa are going to be celebrating their 40th Anniversary in November, so what a great excuse to get everyone together for pictures! Forty Years - that's just amazing - Congratulations!

This session was at the same location as the first, but later in the day. Different lighting, different spots and different ages of children than the first. So, great lessons learned all day - yeah! On a side note: if you are in that area, go spend some time in the Holland Park. It is a beautifully-kept park, with many shelter houses, 3 different playgrounds, a walking trail, lake, basketball courts, volleyball court, etc...just all in all NICE.

Thanks to my assistant Megan on this session - sorry about your muddy flops...oops! : )

Here are a few of my favorites:

See, I told you - good looking!

Happy Early Anniversary to you!

Such grand kids...

The organizer - thanks so much, Audrey!

Mr. I's toes in the mums (while he was trying to eat the flowers, of course!)

Thanks again for letting me capture your family, Kisslings!

Family Portrait Session #1

I was thinking this was going to be my first family portrait session ever, but then I remembered my mini-session with the Braun family (of 4) back in oh, 2003? They're not quite on the same level, but that was a fun afternoon at the Audubon State Park, with pizza & beer afterward!

But, I digress...here is another family (actually part of my family) that I got to spend some time with this past weekend. A special thank you to my Assistant Maria! And, a quick look at my favorites...

What a good-looking group!

The best poser of the day, Miss A

This picture makes me laugh...

Free from picture-posing at last!

Look at that attitude - I love it!

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture your family, Schmutzlers!

Mr. K

Recently, I photographed a 6 week old baby boy. He was a little bit of a change for me, since I've tried to hone my skills on the less moving 2 week-olds. But, we got some nice shots & it was such a pleasure meeting this family. Thank you for letting me capture some moments in your sweet little boy's life! Here are some of my favorites...

A nice little profile shot...

Hey, that's my hand!

Proud papa looking on...

Such a serious little guy.

Love mom's expression in this one!

Sacked out...

The Jimi Wallet

I can't believe it's taken this long for me to share one of my favorite Christmas gifts from this past year - The Jimi Wallet. I get tons of compliments/questions/stares/etc every time I'm paying for something, and really, I just think it's the greatest thing ever. Since most people only pay with plastic anymore, it's very durable and practical. Kudos to you Jimi Wallet inventors!

Mine is Ruby Red, and actually has an internal money clip (vs the external one shown here). Go order your's today!

NYC, Baby!

A couple of weekends ago, we made our first trip to New York City. Depending on where we were (Midtown, SoHo, Little Italy, etc...), the vibe was totally different. We had a great trip, though, doing all of the touristy things & topped it all off with the O.A.R. show at Madison Square Garden. The show was the highlight for all of us, I believe. (probably because that's the most time we spent doing anything, besides walking!) Our seats were amazing & I sat next to the lead singer's mom & family! Very cool to see him give her a little wave or wink throughout the show...

It was sensory overload, as we tried to take in all of the sights, sounds and smells (!) in a much-too-short 3 days & nights. Next time, we're going to go at a slower pace...Here are some of my pics.

Candles at St. Patrick's Cathedral
SoHo Collage of Reds
Times Square
Lady Liberty
4-story Driving Range -
I've always wondered about those (from the movies)
Times Square...and a potential "W", I might add...
