Finally!

Sooo, I don't think I even did a blog post about this little guy's VERY first birthday last year? There was a party, presents & pictures, yes, but a blog post, no. Shoot...  Well, here we go. Some of the highlights from his life as a new 2 year old!

This kid LOVES the idea of dogs, but actually HATES them in real life. We got him started on the breathing treatments again this October, but were so relieved when the Pediatrician told us she was going to prescribe a chewable Singulair pill instead! Whew!

Such a happy kid, who definitely keeps us on our toes!

Her Golden Birthday

So many memories for this one! Miss A started her last year of pre-school, turned 5 & started playing soccer all in the same week. There were other activities we squeezed in, but I'm going to have to do another blog for those. Thanks for checking in!

Such a character...

The birthday celebration that lasted a week, and included dinner out (actually going into the restaurant!), a trip to the movie theater to see "Brave", frozen yogurt, treats for school, and a birthday party with our family.
And, now that she's five, she thinks she must pick out her clothes every day...I believe the exact quote for the above outfit was, "Ooh, this looks awesome with the tiara!" Many of the teachers did ask her if she picked out her clothes that day. ha ha She is gaining independence, for sure. Her favorite part of soccer is the running. Although, she seems to enjoy being the goalie. Regular defense, not so much. And, I'm sure she is pretty partial to the hot pink Umbros.
Next up - Mr. C. is featured.

Freckles...

Author: Niamh Galea

freckles are a thing so sweet,
as they fall onto a young girls cheek,

fine brown sugar sprinkled on the nose,
with pretty freckles a young girl glows,

playing in the sea having fun,
young girls receive kisses from the sun.
This sweet girl & I had a difficult evening tonight (as in "the 4 yr old doesn't want to listen to ANYTHING I say" kind of situation). Then, I saw this picture I'd taken a few weeks ago to document her "kisses from the sun" & just had to share it with you. Love her to pieces...

March & April 2012

Welcome back! I have a couple of month's activities put together for a post, finally. It's been a great Spring! We have gotten to do some fun things, make some home improvements and spend time with friends and family...all while enjoying these warmer-than-usual temperatures & high gas prices!  :  )

Easter 2012 - the kids with their Grandparents & Great-Grandparents

We found a robin's nest in our front yard. 4 little babies. Aryn really enjoyed watching them grow (which didn't take long)!

It's a 2 Blog World now...

Hey all - I'm back to blogging! In an effort to kick my photography credentials up a notch, I've started another blog dedicated to my photo clients. And, in an effort to give my own family a little more documentation, my hope is to blog more on a personal level here. I also hope you check back on both of them on a regular basis!

Here is my little buddy, because he has definitely not gotten as much "published" time as his sister...sorry about the red eye!

Oh, what a night!

The last post of 2011 sessions, at last!

This amazing family was gathered for a very joyous occasion - the wedding reception of the baby of the family & his lovely bride. It was the first time they'd all been in the same location at the same time - ever! You can imagine how excited they were to get it documented with a photography session.

When I arrived, they were all dressed to the nines for the festivities later in the afternoon. And, all so coordinated with my favorite colors - red & black - I loved it! Don't they look amazing?

There is always a window with toddlers & preschoolers...we were doing ok, but then got some great personality from Miss K! Don't you think Mom should wear this dress all of the time? She is a knockout in it.
"Not going to smile..." "Ha ha, I've broken free & am happy as a lark!" Isn't her hair beautiful?

Same goes for this Mom. Really, I think you should wear this weekly! You might also recognize these handsome boys...

Look what happened at the shoot! Congratulations on your loss, Mr. S! Hope the Tooth Fairy found you!
The happy couple, all the way from CA! They are some serious karaoke-iers, too. Lucky you, Mrs. Ring, to get to wear your wedding dress twice!  You were glowing all day long...you, too, Shane!  :  )

Thank you, Ring Family, for having me capture these before (or during) the day's craziness. It was such a pleasure!

Mr. J

Oh the places he has been! Since I first met this little guy on Christmas Eve eve, he has traveled near & far to meet all of his relatives, he is sleeping 7 hours (yes, in a row!) for his mom & dad on occasion, and been just an amazing addition to the lives of his entire family & their friends.

You are going to want to cuddle with him, too...

I LOVE baby feet, and look at all those lines! I have never seen that many...I even double-checked my own little guy's pictures (mainly because my husband didn't believe me), and Mr. J has him outdone by 2 or 3 times as many!
Oh, and these little baby rolls? And, the pouty lips? I couldn't get enough of those!
Mom had this hat ready to go for him on picture day. Such sweetness!
Wonderful story with this trunk - Dad gave it to Mom on their wedding day, with an amazing note about filling it during their future together. What a thoughtful gift & what a great way to represent their new family's beginning!

Thank you again, Kevin & Emily, for being such wonderful creative researchers & allowing me to capture this truly amazing time in your life!

Aww, Miss E

Oh my gosh. You are going to fall in love with this little girl. She was so sleepy, and cuddly, and cooperative (even when her two cousins showed up for a few photos) at 7 days old. Her parents are enjoying every minute with her, and it's hard to believe she is almost 2 months old now! Where does the time go...?

*I do have to put a little note in here about our lunch that day. My grandfather passed away on Veteran's Day (a WWII vet himself), and we had a family dinner after the funeral. To which my aunt, Doris, brought some AMAZING soup. Since then, I have become addicted. Of course I had to bestow a meal to these wonderful friends of mine, and what else could I bring, but Cactus Chili from Norm's Market in Jasper. Oh man, it is delicious. If you are ever that way, please do yourself a favor & get a bowl, a gallon, whatever! You will not regret it. I promise.

Back to the sweet babe..
Such a beauty.
Miss E's first diamond - a gift from her grandparents (a tradition continues, as Chrissy wears her own locket to this day)
Her Mom & Dad have such huge hearts, so I'm excited to watch them begin & expand their own branch of the family tree. Loved the decor in her nursery - especially the handmade quilt from the Quilting Girls!
It's hard work being so adorable...
Look. At. These. Curls. (complete with natural highlights!)

Again, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this special time in your lives!

Lil' Miss LL

This little beauty was the first of my 3 newborn sessions in a row. Have I ever mentioned how much I love newborns? I'm pretty sure I have...  :  ) I was so happy to meet this sweet little girl, and happy to welcome her into our family of friends. My daughter has been pretending that she is also her little sister (because you know she wants a sister, instead of her brother). I told her I don't think Miss LL's big sisters would be too happy to hand her over! So, we will just have to visit them often, instead.

Stttretch! A special shout out to Kara Heichelbech, of Three Strands of Love, for the knit diaper cover!
I'm peacefully sleeping...and dreaming of good things to come!
Love smooshy faces!
What a great wall layout for photos! :  )    And another smile!  She is one happy little lady.
Sweet Sisters
The mystery dad (missing from our last outing) and his older girls.
And, the whole family, including Boots, the cat.

Lisa!

This is the 5th(?) year I've been honored to shoot Lisa's Christmas card picture(s) with her always-by-her-side dog, Jax. We go way back to my Pentax 35m SLR, and I delivered her actual prints & negatives! How things have changed in such a short time!

We've never been to the same spot twice, so this year we headed down to the Louisville Waterfront Park. Last year, it was mostly under water with all of the flooding of the Ohio River. However, they really take amazing care of that green space & it's in great shape again!

Lisa, thank you for the fresh air & sushi. And, your cards turned out great - but, seriously, I have 3 hole punchers for your next design.  All sizes!  ha ha

PS - the (intentionally) out-of-focus picture up there is my favorite.  :  )
With the black & white on the left a close second...

In the days to come, you'll be seeing 1 fun family & 3 (yes 3!) newborn sessions...thanks for stopping by!

#100! And, Miss K turns 1!

Welcome to my 100th blog post! A big shout out to my cousin-in-law, Jamie, who inspired me with her own blog. THIS was my very first post. The subject matter has definitely evolved from personal to more "professional" in the past 3 years. It's just easier for me to talk about photos of & my interactions with other people, than it is to talk about myself & my family, though. So, it all works out!   :  )

The lovely little lady that gets the honor of helping me celebrate this milestone is a returning star. At our last meeting, she was sick. But, she did such a great job, I wished I'd had more time with her, or that I'd get to photograph her again when she was healthy. And, yeah, my wish was granted!

Quite a friendly cat on the farm that day...And, she is quite the organizer. Maybe a future teacher? Or President?  :  )

Happy & Healthy...A beautiful & sweet little girl.
Aww, that darn cat.
Love.
I'm 1!

Thank you girls, for braving the chilliness (and scrubby cat) that morning!
