Mr. J

Oh the places he has been! Since I first met this little guy on Christmas Eve eve, he has traveled near & far to meet all of his relatives, he is sleeping 7 hours (yes, in a row!) for his mom & dad on occasion, and been just an amazing addition to the lives of his entire family & their friends.

You are going to want to cuddle with him, too...

I LOVE baby feet, and look at all those lines! I have never seen that many...I even double-checked my own little guy's pictures (mainly because my husband didn't believe me), and Mr. J has him outdone by 2 or 3 times as many!
Oh, and these little baby rolls? And, the pouty lips? I couldn't get enough of those!
Mom had this hat ready to go for him on picture day. Such sweetness!
Wonderful story with this trunk - Dad gave it to Mom on their wedding day, with an amazing note about filling it during their future together. What a thoughtful gift & what a great way to represent their new family's beginning!

Thank you again, Kevin & Emily, for being such wonderful creative researchers & allowing me to capture this truly amazing time in your life!

Aww, Miss E

Oh my gosh. You are going to fall in love with this little girl. She was so sleepy, and cuddly, and cooperative (even when her two cousins showed up for a few photos) at 7 days old. Her parents are enjoying every minute with her, and it's hard to believe she is almost 2 months old now! Where does the time go...?

*I do have to put a little note in here about our lunch that day. My grandfather passed away on Veteran's Day (a WWII vet himself), and we had a family dinner after the funeral. To which my aunt, Doris, brought some AMAZING soup. Since then, I have become addicted. Of course I had to bestow a meal to these wonderful friends of mine, and what else could I bring, but Cactus Chili from Norm's Market in Jasper. Oh man, it is delicious. If you are ever that way, please do yourself a favor & get a bowl, a gallon, whatever! You will not regret it. I promise.

Back to the sweet babe..
Such a beauty.
Miss E's first diamond - a gift from her grandparents (a tradition continues, as Chrissy wears her own locket to this day)
Her Mom & Dad have such huge hearts, so I'm excited to watch them begin & expand their own branch of the family tree. Loved the decor in her nursery - especially the handmade quilt from the Quilting Girls!
It's hard work being so adorable...
Look. At. These. Curls. (complete with natural highlights!)

Again, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of this special time in your lives!

Lil' Miss LL

This little beauty was the first of my 3 newborn sessions in a row. Have I ever mentioned how much I love newborns? I'm pretty sure I have...  :  ) I was so happy to meet this sweet little girl, and happy to welcome her into our family of friends. My daughter has been pretending that she is also her little sister (because you know she wants a sister, instead of her brother). I told her I don't think Miss LL's big sisters would be too happy to hand her over! So, we will just have to visit them often, instead.

Stttretch! A special shout out to Kara Heichelbech, of Three Strands of Love, for the knit diaper cover!
I'm peacefully sleeping...and dreaming of good things to come!
Love smooshy faces!
What a great wall layout for photos! :  )    And another smile!  She is one happy little lady.
Sweet Sisters
The mystery dad (missing from our last outing) and his older girls.
And, the whole family, including Boots, the cat.

Lisa!

This is the 5th(?) year I've been honored to shoot Lisa's Christmas card picture(s) with her always-by-her-side dog, Jax. We go way back to my Pentax 35m SLR, and I delivered her actual prints & negatives! How things have changed in such a short time!

We've never been to the same spot twice, so this year we headed down to the Louisville Waterfront Park. Last year, it was mostly under water with all of the flooding of the Ohio River. However, they really take amazing care of that green space & it's in great shape again!

Lisa, thank you for the fresh air & sushi. And, your cards turned out great - but, seriously, I have 3 hole punchers for your next design.  All sizes!  ha ha

PS - the (intentionally) out-of-focus picture up there is my favorite.  :  )
With the black & white on the left a close second...

In the days to come, you'll be seeing 1 fun family & 3 (yes 3!) newborn sessions...thanks for stopping by!

#100! And, Miss K turns 1!

Welcome to my 100th blog post! A big shout out to my cousin-in-law, Jamie, who inspired me with her own blog. THIS was my very first post. The subject matter has definitely evolved from personal to more "professional" in the past 3 years. It's just easier for me to talk about photos of & my interactions with other people, than it is to talk about myself & my family, though. So, it all works out!   :  )

The lovely little lady that gets the honor of helping me celebrate this milestone is a returning star. At our last meeting, she was sick. But, she did such a great job, I wished I'd had more time with her, or that I'd get to photograph her again when she was healthy. And, yeah, my wish was granted!

Quite a friendly cat on the farm that day...And, she is quite the organizer. Maybe a future teacher? Or President?  :  )

Happy & Healthy...A beautiful & sweet little girl.
Aww, that darn cat.
Love.
I'm 1!

Thank you girls, for braving the chilliness (and scrubby cat) that morning!

Sweet Little Man: 18 mos

To follow my last post, I have another referral client to feature! So, I want to say THANK YOU (that's a "big" Thank You, by the way) to those of you who have passed along my information, whether or not that someone actually contacted me. I truly & sincerely appreciate it. Maybe they'll get in front of my camera this year?   ;  )

But, back to this wonderful family.

Meet Mr. C. He is a curious little guy, who was not really digging the picture-taking scene at the house. But, boy, when we got him around the cows and tractors,* he was in heaven!  (well, minus the last family picture we tried to get, but you'll have that) If he would've hung in there, I could've taken pictures of him all day long...and, I think you'll see why...

*Being on their property reminded me of my childhood & growing up on a farm. All of the sounds, sights & smells (of course) just took me back...it was kind of nice to travel down memory lane a bit. Maybe I will take C-Man to my parents' farm for his 18 month pictures? He would love it.

Ok, I got distracted again, sorry. If you know me well, you know I tend to ramble (no comments please, Taryn).

Such a happy boy
Doesn't he look like a good helper? If not now, maybe in a few years, anyway?  ha ha

Love the serious face & the lines of the gate in this bottom one.

"Vrroom, goes the tractor!"  I just love all of the textures you find on a farm!

It was a very windy morning. Our first attempts were at their house, but we had the best luck just right inside the barn.
And, this is my favorite...such bright blue eyes.
Thank you, Brenda, for giving me a chance to meet & photograph your family!

On the Road

Sorry for the huge gap in posts...I have been busy working on galleries and orders, that the blogging has had to take the backburner for the past 2 months. I am excited to get caught up on this, so you can see the last sessions of the year, though!

Now, on to the show...

This lovely family was a referral, and after rescheduling our first time, we were able to make it happen on a sunny November evening (maybe a little chilly, but not too bad, considering). They live in this wonderful, old farmhouse - complete with a tree house, swing & family cemetery! As I was leaving, I was pleasantly reminded that the Holidays were fast approaching, as Miss S's reward for being such a lovely (and cooperative) model was to watch the movie, Elf. Her eyes lit up as she told me about her favorite part...so, I had to go home & watch it, too.  :  )

A future artist...who has some beautifully long eyelashes.

Caught some amazing light during the swinging fun.

An artist & a musician?  I'm sure there is never a dull moment at their house!
Mr. W in his space...

One lucky mom & two lucky kids.
Tree house & cemetery on site...wish I was young again (and friends with these two!).
Maria - thank you for giving me the opportunity to capture these moments for you!
