Growing Up

Here is a sweet sibling duo for you...You might remember them from last year, but boy, have they grown up since then. It's always fun riding around on this property, taking pictures, catching up with their mom, too. What a great way to spend a morning! And, it was just like being at home, with Miss R (who is my daughter's age) wanting to sit on my lap as we rode around. She also took quite a liking to the idea of being the photographer, because by the end of our time together, she was repeating all my instructions to her family & attempting to pose them. It was so cute, and she was great comic relief for the entire group. Oh, and she was very concerned with checking me for ticks (my total count ended up being 7, by the way!).

It's also a good thing that we moved our session to a week earlier, because our original date was today & it is supposed to be raining and storming all day.

I noticed they enjoyed picking on each other a lot more this year...the "nice" shots of them together were a little trickier this time around. : )

A little time down by the water, looking for minnows...

They had matching guns, but Miss R's was pink camo, of course!

Such a cool little guy - heading to Kindergarten in the Fall...

Little Miss Motherly...

...and, my future assistant! Getting the family picture, and making sure it's good. For some shots, she had to take the picture first, then, and only then, would she accept being in the picture so I could take it. It was too cute.

Mr. CL

Some more handsome little guys! After a nap (and some Goldfish, more importantly), these boys were ready to smile. The location was the Capital in Frankfort, KY, and it was the perfect backdrop for our evening photo session. It was a little toasty, but some of us managed to stay cooler than others, not to mention any names, Big Brother... : )

Here are some sneak peeks - hope you enjoy!

"Holy Bokeh, Batman!" (this is a quote from another photog friend of mine - can't take credit for that one...) Such beautiful light at the end of our session!

What a looker!
Thank you so much for letting me spend time with your boys, Mom - hope you all enjoyed the fireworks that evening!

Mr. M - 2011 Version

This is the second time this family has graced the blog...you might remember this little guy & his love of trains from last year. We had an interesting session, but I think we managed to get some good looks from him here & there. Mom & Dad probably got more camera time than Mr. M, though! ha ha

Here are some sneak peeks, dear friends...

While we were waiting for the man of the hour to warm up a bit, we got some couple pictures in...
And, some pictures of the "original" family...Buddy (on the left) is the perfect poser, don't you think?

After a tickle session & checking to see if I'm still around, but keeping mom nearby...just in case.

On top of the world! I think he was probably saying, "No more pictures, please...let me play on my daddy's boat now!"

*Heading to another photo session this afternoon, so check back next weekend for some more cute little boys!

Sweet Baby J & His Family

*This kicks off my "busy" season, so come back every week for a new sneak peek!

I had the pleasure of photographing this Family of Five a little over a week ago...the weather had me nervous, but it ended up being a beautiful day! Well, and I was also a little nervous, because he was older & more alert than any newborn session I've done. But, really, he did great (except for one pose that his Mom & I both really wanted to pull off, but he didn't...). After rearranging their living room & kitchen, here are some sneak peeks for our session -

Keep your eye on the prize, Mr. T!

This is not the "perfect" sibling picture, but I just love how it captures their ages: a constantly moving 4 year old boy, a doting older sister (2 yrs), and then the new baby, wondering how life is going to be on the outside. Their parents are blessed, but busy!

Aren't they a beautiful family?

Look at all of this hair! I commented on it, touched it and photographed it a lot that day. My kids were bald blonde-haired babies, so this was such a treat for me. ha ha

Isn't he the sweetest? In fact, at one point I was holding him between poses and just gave him a quick little peck on the forehead. Then I realized, oh wait, this isn't my baby!* ha ha Guess I've chosen the right kind of subject for my photography efforts. *Plus, I do have my own baby boy, so it's just a subconscious habit...apparently. : )

This is one experienced mama - she had blankets and swaddles waiting for me when I walked in - including this blanket she'd made herself. Pretty impressive!

Thanks again for having me photograph your family, Audrey. I had a great time meeting your children, catching up & talking photography! Keep up the good work!

Miss M

Oh boy, well really "Girl!" I have been very busy this month, which is AWESOME. I'm getting to meet new people, spend time with old friends, and cuddle with this sweet little newborn. Miss M had just gotten home when I met her. And, luckily, there was a day of sunshine before the week of severe weather started here in Kentuckiana. She must have been very excited to be in her new home, because she didn't want to sleep much at all...and, she was probably waiting for her favorite Aunt Melanie to come see her, too! : )

Without further adieu, I introduce to you Miss M:

Mom, Dad & I did a little cheer right before this pose - she's alseep! For the meantime...

They were able to get some really nice hospital photos, which is unusual, but getting better these days. However, there were no "naked baby shots" and we definitely had to get that part taken care of!

And, just some images from her new room - I loved the decor! Also, her two big sisters were keeping an eye on her. Seeing these 2 lovely ladies reminded me of the Blue Heeler we had growing up.

Congratulations on your new addition, T & S! She's a beauty.

Mr. C-Man

Another session of chasing down a little boy. I tell you, I am getting in my exercise during these recent photo sessions, for sure... And, it has been great learning a little bit about what raising a boy is going to be like!

Mr. C just turned 2 years old, so his mom (one of my oldest & dearest friends) asked if I would be willing to photograph this milestone. He has got to be the smiley-est little guy out there, so of course I agreed. With his big brother around, there was no catching him. But, after he & Dad took off to track down some Big League Chew gum, things slowed down just a little. But, seriously, just a little.

I have actually gotten to be part of documenting his "life" twice, now that I think about it. It's hard to believe this was over 2 years ago! And, it's great to look back and realize I'm still doing photography sessions. I wonder where this path will be taking me 2 years from now?

Toddler Mode:

I LOVE his eyelashes & think I comment about them every time I see him.

And, just a little teaser on those great curls he has back there.

Ah, boys and rocks...

A huge Thank You to my lovely assistant, Taryn, who had to pull double duty that day - as "Mom" & "Reflector Holder." You did a great job!

V Family

I got to meet this family because of a referral (thank you, and please keep 'em coming!), and I'm so glad to have met them. They are so down-to-earth & go-with-the-flow people. I think we might have to just hang out sometime in the future...

Our original session was slated for Saturday, but with thunderstorms and hail predicted, we had to postpone. Luckily it was only by 24 hours, though. That stormy Saturday gave way to record-breaking temps on Sunday. Gotta love the Midwest, right?

This little man did not seem to enjoy the whole picture-taking experience, either. By the end of our time together, he did a complete 360 degrees to get away from my camera, at least that's what I'm blaming it on. It was actually kind of funny! But, I think you will see, he is a completely adorable & happy little guy.

After a short time at their home, we ventured to our next spot: Our outdoor backdrop is the always gorgeous St. James Court, host to an infamous art show. If you're even slightly interested in artwork, you should make a trip to Louisville in the fall to check it out. (one of the food vendors there makes the most amazing crab cakes, too)

Here are a few sneak peeks for you:

I'm a sucker for little blondies with bright blue eyes.

Love the way Dad is looking at his family here...so happy, so proud.

One of the many expressions Mr. E showed me...so much personality.

He's happy!
Then, "I'm D.O.N.E." (this was taken right before the aforementioned "avoid Jaclyn" moment - I should've known! ha ha)

Thank you V Family - I hope you enjoyed your sneak peeks...more to come!
